Chant de benediction (“Song of Blessing”) was commissioned by guitarist John A. Savage, Jr to benefit The Loving Hands Orphanage in Haiti. A benediction (prayer of blessing) that is sung by the children there before meals and the Haitian meringue rhythm provide the inspiration and foundation of the piece.
