Hope Rising

Starting in the darkest mode of Locrian, but lightening to Dorian, this evocative piece for solo flute helps listeners process grief as the flute sighs and sobs while rising long runs and high notes express hope in the darkest of times. Hope Rising is suitable for both concerts centered around difficult themes and memorial services. It also serves an excellent competition piece and introduction to contemporary notation and extended flute techniques.
