Program Notes: When Music Sounds begins with resounding Cs in the lowest octave of the piano, providing the fundamental pitch around which the rest of the piece is centered. As the ripples of sound reverberate throughout the piece amidst lush choral harmonies and a driving piano accompaniment, the piece grows into an inspiring, ecstatic anthem which embodies the text and unites performers and audience in joy.
