Program Notes: I have had the pleasure of getting to know Beth Armstrong, the director of the Chorus of East Providence, on a personal and professional level, working with her as a collaborative pianist and on a previous commission. I was thrilled when, in June of 2023, Beth asked me to take on a unique project. She had written some original Christmas songs and wanted four of them arranged for SATB chorus, piano, and oboe for the Chorus of East Providence to sing at their December 2023 concert. It was truly meaningful to me to be entrusted with the opportunity to expand upon the creative work of a friend, colleague, and champion of my music. I am extremely grateful. This setting brings out nostalgic feelings of Christmas past, perfect for a festive Dickensian Christmas vibe!
