The chamber choir LOVED working on your setting of For the Beauty of the Earth
Kevin Dibble, Assistant Director of Choral Activities, Houghton University
‘Let Us Sing’ was a wonderful piece that the artists of Cantus thoroughly enjoyed reviewing. The Harper text is compelling language, and you set it beautifully.
Cantus Vocal Ensemble
A wonderful work! We all loved the interplay between piano and voice and the opportunity that it presented for the singer to really be expressive.”
Arcady Ensemble, of my piece, “Mirage”
Has a nice feeling, vaguely nostalgic, leading to a rich setting of Shenandoah which is done so well as to catapult the piece to another level.
David Katz, chief judge of The American Prize in Composition, on Daughter of the Stars, for string orchestra.

I am a North Carolina-based composer with an eclectic style drawing on my broad background in classical, jazz, musical theater, and sacred music. My compositions have been performed throughout the United States by ensembles such as the Argus String Quartet, the North-South Consonance, the Great Woods Symphony, and members of the Raleigh Symphony. My work has been presented at the International Festival of Music by Women, the Impulse New Music Festival, the national conference of the Society of Composers, Inc, various All-State Festivals, and at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall. I have also been featured on the radio programs, “Classical Discoveries” and “Music of Our Mothers.” My most popular piece “Daughter of the Stars,” for string orchestra, placed second in the 2020 American Prize for Composition (pops/light music division.) My piece, “When Music Sounds,” won second place in the Huntsville Master Chorale Composition Competition, making me the first woman to final in this annual competition. Most recently, I was commissioned to compose a woodwind quintet inspired by a threatened North Carolina plant. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in music composition at Appalachian State University as a Tui St. George Tucker Fellow, digitizing and archiving handwritten scores and creating an accessible online platform for musicians.
As a collaborative pianist, I work with the Appalachian Chorale under Dr. Davaughn Miller in addition to accompanying an undergraduate vocal methods class, local school choruses, and the choir at St. Luke’s UMC in Hickory, NC. I also host The Musicking Community Podcast and maintain a private teaching studio. Outside of my music career, I enjoy spending time outdoors and practicing herbalism.
